Heather Lakeman is a Maine-based documentary and editorial photographer dedicated to telling stories that matter.
Through thoughtful, authentic imagery, she documents the people, places, wildlife, and landscapes that shape communities and our connection to the natural world. Her work focuses on human interest, conservation, wildlife preservation, animal welfare, environmental issues, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed—but deserve to be seen.
She believes photography has the power to inform, preserve history, inspire action, and create empathy. Whether documenting a working waterfront, following conservation efforts in the field, photographing wildlife, or telling the story of an individual making a difference, her goal remains the same: to create honest, compelling images that leave a lasting impact.
Heather is available for editorial assignments, documentary projects, nonprofit campaigns, conservation organizations, and publications throughout Maine, New England, and beyond.
